Therapy Dog Ministry

Duncan

Meet Duncan, a therapy dog in training at Reclaimed Church, whose own story of reclamation mirrors the healing he brings to others. Discovered as a lonely stray at just two months old, his life took a miraculous turn when he crossed paths with a worker from Saving Hope Rescue. This chance encounter not only transformed Duncan’s future but also paved the way for him to become a beacon of comfort and healing to others. While his gentle demeanor and innate empathy shine brightly under the loving guidance of his human parents Chris and Karen (a Licensed Professional Counselor), Duncan is diligently working towards becoming a registered therapy dog eager to bring comfort and healing to the Reclaimed Church family and beyond.

Reclaimed Church is thrilled to have Duncan join their ministry, recognizing the profound impact dogs can have on well-being. Every cuddle and nuzzle fosters feelings of connection and joy as stress is reduced, oxytocin is boosted, and endorphins are released. Duncan offers a ministry of presence, providing quiet snuggles, a listening ear, and a tangible experience of God’s unconditional love and peace. Whether you’re seeking comfort, support, or simply a furry friend to brighten your day, Duncan is ready to meet you where you are. And should you desire it, Chris and Karen are readily available to offer prayer and support.

Duncan’s guiding principle, embodied in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, reflects his mission to comfort and encourage those who are hurting. He’s more than just a dog; he’s a furry ambassador of hope, a four-legged beacon of comfort, and a testament to the power of second chances and unconditional love.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
